In 2022, the average crispbread import price amounted to $3,440 per ton, rising by 26% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,777 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Free Zones ($3,846 per ton), while the price for the United States ($2,589 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2014 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Dominican Republic (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Crispbread Imports in Panama
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of crispbread, when their volume increased by 147% to 10 tons. Overall, imports saw a mild increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, crispbread imports surged to $35K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
