Crude Groundnut Oil Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average crude groundnut oil import price stood at $2,526 per ton in December 2021, jumping by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2021 when the average import price increased by 28% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,277 per ton in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to December 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was the United States ($2,832 per ton), while the price for China amounted to $2,077 per ton.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Crude Groundnut Oil Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average crude groundnut oil export price amounted to $2,726 per ton, which is down by -10.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 107% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,130 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($8,107 per ton), while the average price for exports to Qatar ($2,082 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Benin (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Crude Groundnut Oil Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, imports of crude groundnut oil into Malaysia fell modestly to 761 tons, with a decrease of -2.3% against 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 4.9%.
In value terms, crude groundnut oil imports declined modestly to $1.9M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 8.5% against the previous year.
