Crude Soybean Oil Price in Egypt (FOB) - 2022
The average crude soybean oil export price stood at $1,496 per ton in 2022, rising by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted slight growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 59% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Oman ($1,496 per ton) and Algeria ($1,496 per ton), while the average price for exports to Morocco ($1,496 per ton) and Spain ($1,496 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+59.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Crude Soybean Oil Price in Egypt (CIF) - 2022
The average crude soybean oil import price stood at $1,513 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 23% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $1,656 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from the United States ($1,516 per ton) and Russia ($1,513 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,513 per ton) and Turkey ($1,513 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+26.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Crude Soybean Oil Exports in Egypt
In 2022, shipments abroad of crude soybean oil decreased by -68.5% to 24K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports faced a sharp decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 93K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, crude soybean oil exports dropped markedly to $36M in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 47% against the previous year.
