Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in Nigeria (CIF) - 2022
In June 2022, the average cyclic hydrocarbons import price amounted to $1,562 per ton, growing by 37% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2021 to June 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.7%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was China ($15,223 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($520 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2021 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+31.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Price in Nigeria (FOB) - 2022
The average cyclic hydrocarbons export price stood at $373 per ton in 2022, falling by -28.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 39%. The export price peaked at $1,638 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($2,368 per ton), while the average price for exports to Niger ($310 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (-4.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Cyclic Hydrocarbons Imports in Nigeria
Cyclic hydrocarbons imports into Nigeria totaled 33K tons in 2022, with an increase of 5.1% on 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -27.8% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 68%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 45K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cyclic hydrocarbons imports skyrocketed to $53M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +24.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +91.6% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 51%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
