Dairy Produce Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average dairy produce import price amounted to $2,564 per ton, rising by 10% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dairy produce import price increased by +81.9% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 26% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,859 per ton), while the price for Romania ($1,080 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+12.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dairy Produce Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
The average dairy produce export price stood at $1,210 per ton in 2022, jumping by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dairy produce export price increased by +111.1% against 2015 indices. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($2,814 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($606 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+18.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dairy Produce Imports in Hungary
For the third year in a row, Hungary recorded decline in supplies from abroad of dairy produce, which decreased by -1.8% to 193K tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced decline.
In value terms, dairy produce imports rose markedly to $495M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 9.3% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Dairy Produce Exports in Hungary

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 7.6% against the previous year.
