Dairy Produce Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
The average dairy produce export price stood at $7,280 per ton in 2022, growing by 1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $7,596 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($11,819 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Korea ($4,668 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dairy Produce Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022
The average dairy produce import price stood at $2,482 per ton in 2022, rising by 22% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dairy produce import price increased by +66.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 29%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($4,806 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($583 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+19.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Italy recorded growth in shipments abroad of dairy produce, which increased by 4.2% to 682K tons in 2022.
