In 2022, the average dithionites and sulphoxylates import price amounted to $875 per ton, dropping by -10.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 26% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $1,550 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,574 per ton), while the price for Belgium ($424 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Dithionites and Sulphoxylates Imports in Ghana
In 2022, overseas purchases of dithionites and sulphoxylateses increased by 1.3% to 174 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt curtailment.
In value terms, dithionites and sulphoxylates imports dropped to $152K in 2022. In general, imports, however, faced a deep contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year.
