Dry Bean Price in Mexico (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average dry bean import price amounted to $1,246 per ton, growing by 4.5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,553 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -0.7% per month.
Dry Bean Price in Mexico (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average dry bean export price amounted to $1,747 per ton, picking up by 6.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a temperate expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, dry bean export price increased by +6.2% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1,785 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Peru ($1,781 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States amounted to $1,721 per ton.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Bean Imports in Mexico
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of beans (dry), when their volume decreased by -54.1% to 76K tons. Overall, imports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 166K tons, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
In value terms, dry bean imports fell markedly to $102M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
