Dry Peas Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average dry peas import price amounted to $332 per ton, surging by 6.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible reduction. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $449 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($385 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($207 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Dry Peas Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average dry peas export price stood at $471 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 1.8% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 4.3% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $565 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Djibouti ($579 per ton), while the average price for exports to Pakistan ($299 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Djibouti (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Dry Peas Imports in Turkey
For the fourth consecutive year, Turkey recorded growth in purchases abroad of peas (dry), which increased by 122% to 491K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 266% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, dry peas imports soared to $205M in 2022. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 322% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
