Ferro-Manganese Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ferro-manganese import price amounted to $1,246 per ton, picking up by 112% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,445 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($2,321 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($952 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+6.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ferro-Manganese Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
The average ferro-manganese export price stood at $1,873 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 749%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Norway.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Norway amounted to +318.4% per year.
Ferro-Manganese Imports in Thailand
In 2022, approx. 16K tons of ferro-manganese were imported into Thailand; remaining relatively unchanged against the year before. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, ferro-manganese imports rose remarkably to $23M in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 112% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In 2022, overseas shipments of ferro-manganese decreased by -52.8% to 59 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports showed a dramatic contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 76% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 464 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ferro-manganese exports declined rapidly to $111K in 2022. Overall, exports saw a perceptible setback.
