Fiberboard Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2023
In May 2023, the average fiberboard import price amounted to $170 per cubic meter, approximately mirroring the previous month. Over the period from May 2022 to May 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 25% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $170 per cubic meter in April 2023, and then fell modestly in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from China ($174 per cubic meter) and Russia ($171 per cubic meter), while the price for Belarus ($155 per cubic meter) and Turkey ($165 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fiberboard Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2023
The average fiberboard export price stood at $164 per cubic meter in May 2023, dropping by -2.5% against the previous month. Over the period from May 2022 to May 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $168 per cubic meter in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to May 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In May 2023, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($170 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Tajikistan amounted to $162 per cubic meter.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kyrgyzstan (+1.8%).
Fiberboard Imports in Uzbekistan
In 2022, imports of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials into Uzbekistan expanded to 1.1M cubic meters, surging by 2.3% compared with the previous year. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, fiberboard imports surged to $188M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.6% over the last three-year period. Fiberboard Exports in Uzbekistan
In 2022, overseas shipments of fiber board of wood or other ligneous materials decreased by -42.3% to 17K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 145%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 30K cubic meters in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, fiberboard exports shrank significantly to $3M in 2022. In general, exports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $4.3M in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
