Fig Price in France (CIF) - 2023
The average fig import price stood at $4,252 per ton in June 2023, declining by -10.9% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2022 an increase of 37% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $4,770 per ton in May 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($6,882 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,698 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average fig export price stood at $7,431 per ton in June 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 15% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $7,791 per ton. From March 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($12,079 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($5,780 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fig Imports in France
In 2022, overseas purchases of figs decreased by -15.6% to 17K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a mild curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 21K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, fig imports dropped sharply to $57M in 2022. Overall, imports showed a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 14%.
