Fig Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average fig export price stood at $3,451 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 2.7% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 56% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $3,734 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($6,992 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($1,620 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fig import price stood at $5,265 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -4.4% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 26% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $5,875 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($7,322 per ton), while the price for Iraq ($1,695 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+7.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fig Exports in Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in shipments abroad of figs, which increased by 1% to 96K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fig exports shrank to $308M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $336M, and then declined in the following year.

Fig Imports in Turkey
In 2022, the amount of figs imported into Turkey skyrocketed to 3.3K tons, growing by 83% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw resilient growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fig imports surged to $13M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last three-year period.
