Fish Parts Price in Italy (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average fish parts import price amounted to $9,620 per ton, surging by 64% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $17,533 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($19,439 per ton), while the price for Romania ($3,415 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+21.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fish Parts Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
The average fish parts export price stood at $12,138 per ton in 2022, waning by -21% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 95% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $22,571 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($26,759 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($7,639 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fish Parts Imports in Italy
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of fish heads, tails and maws decreased by -49.2% to 52 tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 141%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 102 tons, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
In value terms, fish parts imports reduced sharply to $498K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. For the third year in a row, Italy recorded decline in overseas shipments of fish heads, tails and maws, which decreased by -10.1% to 7 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports faced a abrupt curtailment.
In value terms, fish parts exports reduced dramatically to $85K in 2022. In general, exports showed a abrupt decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 16%.
