The average fluorides; of aluminium import price stood at $5,183 per ton in 2022, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 220% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $7,050 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($5,429 per ton), while the price for India stood at $4,891 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+12.4%).
Fluorides; of Aluminium Imports in Sri Lanka
In 2022, purchases abroad of fluorides; of aluminia decreased by -23.2% to 109 kg for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 500%.
In value terms, fluorides; of aluminium imports dropped notably to $565 in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 771%.
