Fresh Chicken Cut Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
The average fresh chicken cut import price stood at $2,508 per ton in June 2023, rising by 15% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($4,378 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($563 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+8.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average fresh chicken cut export price amounted to $4,136 per ton, increasing by 5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 5.6% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,132 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($2,504 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fresh Chicken Cut Imports in Bulgaria
In 2022, the amount of fresh or chilled cuts of chicken imported into Bulgaria declined to 22K tons, which is down by -6.9% compared with 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a deep downturn.
