Fresh Whole Chicken Price in Finland (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average fresh whole chicken import price amounted to $3,049 per ton, shrinking by -7.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,938 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to June 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,826 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($2,494 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fresh whole chicken export price stood at $4,959 per ton in 2022, dropping by -10.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,548 per ton, and then contracted in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($13,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands amounted to $4,939 per ton.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+52.2%).

In 2022, fresh whole chicken imports into Finland surged to 373 tons, rising by 31% against 2021. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 548 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fresh whole chicken imports skyrocketed to $1.2M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated modest growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last three-year period.
