Frozen Fish Price in Uruguay (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average frozen fish export price amounted to $1,689 per ton, dropping by -14.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,408 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brazil ($2,182 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($899 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Guinea (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Price in Uruguay (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fish import price stood at $2,148 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -7.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,439 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($4,727 per ton), while the price for Vanuatu ($1,115 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fish Exports in Uruguay
In 2022, shipments abroad of frozen fish was finally on the rise to reach 55K tons after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a mild decline.
In value terms, frozen fish exports rose remarkably to $93M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a noticeable decline.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 2.5% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, frozen fish imports declined significantly to $9.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a sharp setback. The smallest decline of -2.2% was in 2021.
