Frozen Fruit Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
In December 2021, the average frozen fruit export price amounted to $11,581 per ton, reducing by -11.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2021 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $13,061 per ton in November 2021, and then shrank in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Australia ($21,911 per ton), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($2,638 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fruit Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average frozen fruit import price stood at $2,321 per ton in December 2021, falling by -17.6% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from December 2020 to December 2021: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.8% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2021 figures, frozen fruit import price decreased by -20.4% against September 2021 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2021 an increase of 95% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,918 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to December 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($3,378 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,067 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Algeria (+28.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fruit Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, overseas shipments of frozen fruits decreased by -3.9% to 40K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 42K tons, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
In value terms, frozen fruit exports shrank modestly to $227M in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 96%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $234M, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Frozen Fruit Imports in Malaysia
Frozen fruit imports into Malaysia surged to 4.4K tons in 2022, rising by 18% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, frozen fruit imports surged to $9.8M in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 47%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
