Frozen Strawberries Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2023
The average frozen strawberries import price stood at $1,372 per ton in June 2023, rising by 22% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 27% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $2,264 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Serbia ($2,781 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,023 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average frozen strawberries export price amounted to $1,724 per ton, shrinking by -19.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 23%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,689 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($3,035 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($1,212 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Frozen Strawberries Imports in Hungary
In 2022, frozen strawberries imports into Hungary rose markedly to 2.9K tons, increasing by 10% against 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +54.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, frozen strawberries imports expanded to $4.4M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +12.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.5% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of frozen strawberrieses decreased by -25.2% to 683 tons in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 68%.
In value terms, frozen strawberries exports fell significantly to $1.2M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 58% against the previous year.
