Fructose Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average fructose import price amounted to $2,238 per ton, which is down by -4.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 25% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,521 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($6,634 per ton), while the price for the United States ($1,544 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From October 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+26.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average fructose export price stood at $413 per ton in July 2023, which is down by -66.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,230 per ton, and then declined rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Argentina ($1,099 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States totaled $387 per ton.
From October 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+3.9%).
Fructose Imports in Brazil
In 2022, supplies from abroad of fructose and fructose syrup decreased by -2% to 8.1K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, imports saw a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 9.3K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fructose imports soared to $16M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 16%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Fructose Exports in Brazil
In 2022, the amount of fructose and fructose syrup exported from Brazil reached 20K tons, growing by 1.6% compared with the previous year. Overall, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +54.0% against 2019 indices.
