Fructose Price in Chile (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $1,058 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 8.3% against the previous month. Over the last ten-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 16% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $1,096 per ton in February 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($2,873 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($689 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in Chile (FOB) - 2023
The average fructose export price stood at $2,711 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 12% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a modest expansion from September 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, fructose export price increased by +26.7% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 27% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,668 per ton. From December 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($6,130 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($2,105 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+10.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in Chile
In 2022, overseas purchases of fructose and fructose syrup decreased by -14.1% to 30K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 35K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, fructose imports rose modestly to $27M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +39.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Fructose Exports in Chile
In 2022, the amount of fructose and fructose syrup exported from Chile fell to 6.8K tons, waning by -12.2% against 2021. Overall, exports saw a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 36% against the previous year.
In value terms, fructose exports dropped markedly to $15M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a slight decline.
