Fructose Price in Colombia (CIF) - 2022
In February 2022, the average fructose import price amounted to $1,323 per ton, increasing by 8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2021 when the average import price increased by 57% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,365 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to February 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,502 per ton), while the price for Brazil ($821 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2021 to February 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fructose export price amounted to $1,923 per ton, increasing by 5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 15% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,135 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Panama ($2,784 per ton), while the average price for exports to Peru ($1,380 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Panama (+4.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Fructose Imports in Colombia
In 2022, overseas purchases of fructose and fructose syrup decreased by -14.6% to 9.4K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 27%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 11K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fructose imports skyrocketed to $12M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.8% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
