Fructose Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $688 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -27.3% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 85% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $968 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($1,743 per ton), while the price for Serbia totaled $1,310 per ton.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
The average fructose export price stood at $1,016 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -7.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a temperate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 77% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,040 per ton. From February 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Albania ($1,505 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to $711 per ton.
From August 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bosnia and Herzegovina (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Fructose Imports in Croatia
In 2022, the amount of fructose and fructose syrup imported into Croatia expanded remarkably to 25K tons, picking up by 11% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fructose imports soared to $11M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 79% against the previous year.
In value terms, fructose exports soared to $2.8M in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 85%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
