Fructose Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2023
The average fructose import price stood at $2,749 per ton in March 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. In general, import price indicated mild growth from March 2022 to March 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2023 figures, fructose import price increased by +60.8% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 59% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in March 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Mexico ($3,955 per ton), while the price for Peru ($1,268 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Price in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average fructose export price amounted to $2,148 per ton, increasing by 5.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 90%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $8,930 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($4,451 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($745 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Jamaica (+16.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fructose Imports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, approx. 2.1K tons of fructose and fructose syrup were imported into the Dominican Republic; picking up by 14% compared with 2021. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 70% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 476 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, fructose exports plummeted to $363K in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 110%.
