In 2022, the average fruit and berry import price amounted to $767 per ton, picking up by 32% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 77%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,406 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($1,479 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($433 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Namibia (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average fruit and berry export price amounted to $583 per ton, picking up by 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a deep downturn. The export price peaked at $1,352 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of fruits and berries, when their volume decreased by -25.8% to 13K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 124%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 18K tons, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, fruit and berry exports soared to $7.8M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 77%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
