Fruit and Berry Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average fruit and berry import price amounted to $967 per ton, with a decrease of -5.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1,023 per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1,609 per ton), while the price for Romania ($460 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Romania (+10.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average fruit and berry export price amounted to $863 per ton, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed temperate growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($1,443 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+8.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fruit and Berry Imports in Hungary
For the fourth consecutive year, Hungary recorded growth in purchases abroad of fruits and berries, which increased by 3% to 302K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 5.5%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, fruit and berry imports fell to $292M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 17%.

Fruit and Berry Exports in Hungary
