Fruit Price in Qatar (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average fruit import price amounted to $1,094 per ton, rising by 5.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,107 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lebanon ($2,148 per ton), while the price for Iran ($283 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lebanon (+11.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Fruit Imports in Qatar
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of fruits increased by 6.7% to 243K tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
In value terms, fruit imports rose notably to $266M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
