In August 2023, the average furnace carbon electrode import price amounted to $3,505 per ton, which is down by -6.1% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 47% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $6,031 per ton. From March 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Spain ($6,397 per ton), while the price for China ($2,824 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average furnace carbon electrode export price stood at $4,725 per ton in 2022, jumping by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 2,476% against the previous year.
