Garlic Price in Uzbekistan (FOB) - 2023
In May 2023, the average garlic export price amounted to $887 per ton, rising by 9.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 89% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $1,826 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to May 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,128 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($451 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (-0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Garlic Price in Uzbekistan (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average garlic import price amounted to $350 per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($372 per ton), while the price for Iran ($282 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+56.8%).
Garlic Exports in Uzbekistan
Garlic exports from Uzbekistan soared to 3.4K tons in 2022, jumping by 23% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 30%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, garlic exports skyrocketed to $3.7M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +95.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 55%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
