Ghee Price in Latvia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average ghee import price amounted to $5,780 per ton, surging by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 83%. The import price peaked at $6,890 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,830 per ton), while the price for Lithuania ($3,012 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+19.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ghee Price in Latvia (FOB) - 2022
The average ghee export price stood at $4,015 per ton in 2022, increasing by 15% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee export price decreased by -15.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 63%. The export price peaked at $4,772 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($7,674 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia amounted to $3,585 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+10.4%).
Ghee Imports in Latvia
In 2022, overseas purchases of ghee decreased by -60.3% to 47 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 66% against the previous year.
In value terms, ghee imports declined remarkably to $271K in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 90% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $455K, and then declined significantly in the following year.
