Ghee Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ghee import price amounted to $5,387 per ton, dropping by -6% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.8% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $6,867 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($8,147 per ton), while the price for New Zealand ($5,264 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ghee Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022
The average ghee export price stood at $2,779 per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -10.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 71%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $3,830 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($3,538 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lao People's Democratic Republic ($1,953 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+178.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, ghee exports totaled $470K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years.
