Ginger Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023
In July 2023, the average ginger import price amounted to $4,163 per ton, increasing by 1.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 34% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,205 per ton in April 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($11,859 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,691 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ginger Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average ginger export price amounted to $3,101 per ton, dropping by -20% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average export price increased by 63%. The export price peaked at $3,875 per ton in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($8,727 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($2,193 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ginger Imports in the Czech Republic
In 2022, imports of ginger into the Czech Republic rose sharply to 2.5K tons, picking up by 10% compared with 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable slump.
In value terms, ginger imports fell rapidly to $5.3M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $6.4M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Ginger Exports in the Czech Republic

In value terms, ginger exports contracted significantly to $1.2M in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $2.3M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
