Grape Price in Ukraine (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average grape import price amounted to $1,169 per ton, dropping by -17.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 28% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,456 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($1,401 per ton), while the price for Moldova ($1,003 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Azerbaijan (+0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Grape Price in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average grape export price amounted to $930 per ton, which is down by -46.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 215%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,921 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($2,040 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt stood at $800 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belarus (+17.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Grape Imports in Ukraine
In 2022, purchases abroad of grapes decreased by -30.4% to 41K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 59K tons, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, grape imports fell to $45M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 48%.

Grape Exports in Ukraine
In 2022, approx. 19 tons of grapes were exported from Ukraine; picking up by 91% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a dramatic contraction.
In value terms, grape exports rose slightly to $18K in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 6%.
