Gum Arabic Price in Cameroon (CIF) - 2022
The average gum arabic import price stood at $4,234 per ton in 2022, reducing by -8.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 87% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $8,370 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($22,603 per ton), while the price for France ($3,637 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+91.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average gum arabic export price amounted to $2,322 per ton, declining by -6.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the average export price increased by 78%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $10,970 per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Germany ($2,625 per ton) and the UK ($2,290 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($2,111 per ton) and France ($2,126 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (-2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of gum arabics decreased by -20.2% to 8.4 tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -13.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 78%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 18 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, gum arabic exports fell to $36K in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -23.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 73%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $47K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
