In August 2023, the average hand saws import price amounted to $14,859 per ton, declining by -9.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $18,544 per ton. From October 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($57,066 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($4,781 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Sweden (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average hand saws export price stood at $16,891 per ton in 2022, falling by -3.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 14%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $17,478 per ton, and then shrank modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($26,822 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($4,868 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
