Hardboard Price in Denmark (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average hardboard import price amounted to $208 per cubic meter, rising by 3.9% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated a resilient increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, hardboard import price increased by +127.9% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 119% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $253 per cubic meter in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Finland ($1,135 per cubic meter), while the price for the Netherlands ($27.5 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Price in Denmark (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average hardboard export price amounted to $330 per cubic meter, increasing by 67% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, faced a deep slump. The export price peaked at $1,683 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($742 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($18 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+82.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Hardboard Imports in Denmark
In 2022, overseas purchases of hardboard decreased by -64% to 167K cubic meters for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, imports showed a dramatic descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 21%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 464K cubic meters in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard imports shrank significantly to $30M in 2022. Overall, imports faced a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $68M in 2021, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Hardboard Exports in Denmark
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of hardboard, when their volume decreased by -44.6% to 4.1K cubic meters. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 232% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 7.5K cubic meters, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard exports dropped to $1.4M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 137% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.5M, and then contracted in the following year.
