Hardboard Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
In March 2022, the average hardboard import price amounted to $672 per cubic meter, increasing by 14% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous month. The import price peaked in March 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($990 per cubic meter), while the price for Thailand ($459 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Hardboard Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average hardboard export price amounted to $1,636 per cubic meter, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 48%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $2,300 per cubic meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($15,076 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+9.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, approx. 7.9K cubic meters of hardboard were imported into Indonesia; which is down by -9.4% against 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 89%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 8.7K cubic meters, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard imports soared to $5.1M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 88% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Hardboard Exports in Indonesia
In 2022, approx. 69 cubic meters of hardboard were exported from Indonesia; shrinking by -2.8% against 2021. In general, exports faced a precipitous shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 9.2% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 139 cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, hardboard exports fell to $113K in 2022. Overall, exports saw a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $230K in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
