Hardboard Price in Peru (CIF) - 2021
In April 2020, the average hardboard import price amounted to $543 per cubic meter, shrinking by -14.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2020 when the average import price increased by 38% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $657 per cubic meter in January 2020; however, from February 2020 to April 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($1,691 per cubic meter), while the price for Venezuela ($307 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2020 to April 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Hardboard Price in Peru (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average hardboard export price amounted to $223 per cubic meter, picking up by 8.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,066 per cubic meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Colombia ($239 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Canada ($1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Colombia (-9.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Hardboard Imports in Peru
In 2022, approx. 31K cubic meters of hardboard were imported into Peru; with a decrease of -3.9% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 8.8% against the previous year. Imports peaked at 35K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hardboard imports dropped significantly to $18M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $22M, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Hardboard Exports in Peru
Hardboard exports from Peru shrank dramatically to 30 cubic meters in 2022, declining by -49.2% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 1,080%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 59 cubic meters, and then fell significantly in the following year.
In value terms, hardboard exports reduced sharply to $6.7K in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 910%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $12K, and then contracted notably in the following year.
