Honey Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2021
In December 2021, the average honey import price amounted to $9,052 per ton, picking up by 75% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $12,319 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to December 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($58,250 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,392 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by New Zealand (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Honey Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
The average honey export price stood at $10,299 per ton in 2022, declining by -13% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, honey export price increased by +13.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $12,118 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($18,053 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($4,094 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United Arab Emirates (+33.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Honey Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, approx. 2.4K tons of honey were imported into Kuwait; surging by 2.1% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 8.5% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 2.5K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, honey imports surged to $19M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -17.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 92%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $23M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
