Ice Cream Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average ice cream import price amounted to $3,718 per ton, declining by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 24% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $4,066 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($5,344 per ton), while the price for Serbia ($3,279 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023
The average ice cream export price stood at $4,205 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 7.2% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated pronounced growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, ice cream export price increased by +7.2% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 42% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $5,019 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($10,714 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($779 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+11.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Imports in Bulgaria
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of ice cream, when their volume decreased by -7.8% to 11K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 12K tons, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, ice cream imports shrank to $32M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $33M, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
