Ice Cream Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2021
The average ice cream import price stood at $2,655 per ton in December 2021, picking up by 5% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2021 when the average import price increased by 9.4% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,803 per ton. From March 2021 to December 2021, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($5,162 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($2,138 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2021
The average ice cream export price stood at $2,250 per ton in December 2021, which is down by -1.6% against the previous month. Over the period from December 2020 to December 2021, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2021 when the average export price increased by 14% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,533 per ton in June 2021; however, from July 2021 to December 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In December 2021, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($5,733 per ton), while the average price for exports to Taiwan (Chinese) ($1,346 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2020 to December 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, purchases abroad of ice cream decreased by -5.2% to 25K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 12%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 27K tons, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, ice cream imports shrank to $64M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $70M, and then dropped in the following year.

Ice Cream Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, the amount of ice cream exported from Malaysia reduced slightly to 7.9K tons, waning by -4.4% against 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 9.7%.
In value terms, ice cream exports fell to $18M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $19M, and then shrank in the following year.
