Ice Cream Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average ice cream import price amounted to $5,445 per ton, reducing by -7.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 56% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $10,029 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($8,491 per ton), while the price for France ($3,437 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ice Cream Price in Norway (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average ice cream export price amounted to $21,430 per ton, increasing by 270% against the previous month. In general, the export price posted prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in October 2022 an increase of 368% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($23,032 per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark stood at $4,371 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Ice Cream Imports in Norway
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of ice cream decreased by -2% to 4.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +58.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 4.8K tons, and then fell slightly in the following year.
In value terms, ice cream imports reached $37M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
