Illuminated Sign Price in Uganda (CIF) - 2022
The average illuminated sign import price stood at $9,369 per ton in 2022, which is down by -3.4% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $12,438 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($20,473 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($3,692 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average illuminated sign export price amounted to $6,250 per ton, falling by -13.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 135% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $17,952 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Burundi ($16,545 per ton), while the average price for exports to South Sudan ($3,000 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Burundi (-0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Illuminated Sign Imports in Uganda
In 2022, overseas purchases of illuminated signs and illuminated name-plates decreased by -1% to 133 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports faced a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 256 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, illuminated sign imports contracted slightly to $1.2M in 2022. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $2.3M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
