Inactive Yeast Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average inactive yeast import price amounted to $6,471 per ton, increasing by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 51% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,805 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($10,069 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,126 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Inactive Yeast Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2023
The average inactive yeast export price stood at $7,612 per ton in June 2023, jumping by 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a mild increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 237% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $13,155 per ton. From January 2023 to June 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was the UK ($13,970 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,634 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Inactive Yeast Imports in Ireland
Inactive yeast imports into Ireland contracted markedly to 508 tons in 2022, with a decrease of -19.4% on 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a pronounced reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 113% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 630 tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, inactive yeast imports declined modestly to $3.3M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 100%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3.5M, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

Inactive Yeast Exports in Ireland
For the fourth consecutive year, Ireland recorded growth in shipments abroad of inactive yeasts and other dead single-cell micro-organisms, which increased by 53% to 428 tons in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a significant increase. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, inactive yeast exports surged to $2.3M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
