Internal Combustion Engines Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
In January 2022, the average internal combustion engines import price amounted to $5,168 per unit, dropping by -2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2021 an increase of 30% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,386 per unit in September 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($11,200 per unit), while the price for South Korea ($1,085 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In January 2022, the average internal combustion engines export price amounted to $3,150 per unit, falling by -29.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2021 when the average export price increased by 23% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $9,725 per unit in June 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to January 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($9,477 per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($1,625 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Kazakhstan (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Internal Combustion Engines Imports in Russia
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of motor vehicles compression-ignition internal combustion piston engines decreased by -13.4% to 170K units in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 197K units, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, internal combustion engines imports shrank significantly to $757M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $930M, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
