Lactose Price in Kuwait (CIF) - 2022
The average lactose import price stood at $2,395 per ton in 2022, growing by 29% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($8,714 per ton), while the price for China ($551 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+20.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lactose Price in Kuwait (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average lactose export price amounted to $2,625 per ton, jumping by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 149%. The export price peaked at $5,081 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($4,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Oman stood at $2,628 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq (+113.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Lactose Imports in Kuwait
In 2022, supplies from abroad of lactose and lactose syrup decreased by -21% to 29 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports saw a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 206%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 95 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, lactose imports rose to $70K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 211%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $205K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
