Lactose Price in the Czech Republic (CIF) - 2023
The average lactose import price stood at $2,868 per ton in August 2023, declining by -32.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 46% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,269 per ton, and then contracted significantly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($12,485 per ton), while the price for France ($1,224 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lactose Price in the Czech Republic (FOB) - 2023
The average lactose export price stood at $5,023 per ton in August 2023, dropping by -12.2% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated pronounced growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, lactose export price increased by +8.8% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 an increase of 39% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $6,068 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($5,594 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia totaled $4,879 per ton.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Uzbekistan (+3.0%).
Lactose Imports in the Czech Republic
In 2022, overseas purchases of lactose and lactose syrup were finally on the rise to reach 2.4K tons after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt contraction.
