Lard Price in Romania (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average lard export price amounted to $1,199 per ton, increasing by 8.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 260% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,216 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($2,682 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($420 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bulgaria (+20.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In August 2023, the average lard import price amounted to $1,110 per ton, with a decrease of -6.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 80% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,152 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($3,554 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($1,068 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
