Lead Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
The average lead import price stood at $2,352 per ton in September 2023, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 5.1% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $2,378 per ton in June 2023; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2023.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Mexico ($2,396 per ton) and Peru ($2,395 per ton), while the price for Paraguay ($2,095 per ton) and Colombia ($2,311 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Venezuela (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average lead export price amounted to $2,618 per ton, dropping by -7.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 24% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,838 per ton in August 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($2,630 per ton), while the average price for exports to Argentina amounted to $2,600 per ton.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Argentina (+0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Imports in Brazil
Lead imports into Brazil contracted dramatically to 68K tons in 2022, falling by -20.6% against 2021 figures. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 85K tons, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, lead imports reduced notably to $165M in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 91%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $197M, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

Lead Exports in Brazil
